Project Overview
A family in Coleraine got in touch because their bathroom plumbing was past its best. The pipework was old copper that had been patched and extended over the years, and some of the joints were starting to weep. They were planning a full bathroom renovation and needed the plumbing done properly from the start.
The existing bathroom had a bath, toilet, and pedestal basin, all connected to the original pipework from when the house was built. They wanted to keep the same layout but replace everything, including all the plumbing underneath.
Work Completed
I stripped out all the old pipework, including the hot and cold feeds and all waste connections. Once the old pipes were removed, I installed new 15mm and 22mm copper pipework throughout, with proper isolating valves on each fitting so that individual items can be serviced without shutting off the whole house.
The new plumbing included:
- New hot and cold feeds to the bath, basin, and toilet
- New waste connections for all three fittings
- A new bath tap and waste fitted
- A new close-coupled toilet connected with flexible connectors
- A new pedestal basin with mixer tap
- All joints tested at pressure before tiling began
Outcome
The job took four days from start to finish, and everything was tested and signed off before the tiler came in. The family now has a fully replumbed bathroom with modern fittings and no leaks. All the pipework is properly routed and accessible for future maintenance.
